World Dream Day: Turning Visions into Achievements

Sameera, September 25, 2024July 28, 2024

Today, September 25, 2024, is World Dream Day. This day isn’t about sleeping and dreaming; it’s about those dreams we envision throughout our day—the wild ideas that ignite our brains and drive us to take action.

World Dream Day was founded by Ozioma Egwuonwe in 2012 to inspire people to dream big and work hard to turn their dreams into reality.

Let’s create a positive force for everyone dreaming today to put their ideas into action.

Back in late 2017, after researching and planning, I finally grabbed a computer and a credit card and created my blog—a platform where I could write and share my ideas, emotions, experiences, and learnings to inspire new thoughts in others’ minds. It was then I realized words are powerful and they have the fuel to create change.

I admit I am not consistent with my posts, but I strive to keep the brand alive through other mediums, including social media.

Whether I am at a squash practice, doctors’ appointments, or long car lines, I am scrolling through side hustle ideas and bucket list projects I would like to tackle. One of my biggest dreams is to write a book, possibly a memoir. I wrote a few chapters and then questioned myself, “Who would read it anyway?” I update the file every few months, but it is nowhere close to being compiled into an actual book. The closest to reaching that goal is creating prompted journals on Canva.

While brainstorming ideas on monetizing writing, I dipped my feet into the entrepreneurship world. I took the plunge and created an LLC with the birthday money I had saved. This decision led me to expand my writing on a larger platform, Medium, which can help me create more consistent readership.

Out of all my wildest ideas, the biggest lesson I have learned over the years is to keep dreaming. Start with small steps, and each progress is closer to reaching an overall dream. I can’t let unsuccessful attempts slow me down; I have to get up every morning with new ideas and entertain the thought of having a bigger platform to live my dream.

Don’t forget to share your wildest dreams. Comment below⤵️
