I started reconnecting with paints back in February when I joined The 100 Day Project. Ever since then, I’ve been consistently creating — and the more I painted, the more I realized that sketchbooks weren’t quite the right fit for me. The messy pages and inevitable bloppers felt like roadblocks rather than reflections of progress.
So, I decided to switch things up. I ordered watercolor cardstock, and that simple change lifted a weight off my creative shoulders. Working on loose sheets gave me freedom — the freedom to paint without worrying about perfection. Before long, I moved to 4×6 pieces, which I loved because they could be beautifully stored in a photo album.
That led to another spark — creating small greeting notes to tuck into hostess gifts. And then, thanks to social media, I stumbled upon the world of ACEOs — Art Cards, Editions, and Originals. These miniature artworks, sized at just 2.5 x 3.5 inches, were originally created as artist trading cards — like creative business cards — but soon became a charming, affordable way to collect art.
ACEOs resonated deeply with what I was already creating, so I shifted all my pieces — the 4x6s, 3x3s, and 2x3s — into this perfectly pocket-sized format. Now, some of these tiny treasures have found their way to eBay, waiting for new homes and art-loving collectors.
I hope you’ll take a moment to explore and support a starting artist’s journey — one miniature painting at a time.
