Navigating March Madness

What a way to start the month!

As March slips through my fingers, I am finding it difficult to grapple with my goals for the quarter. It gives me palpitations even thinking about it.

In March 2023, I dipped my toes into the world of Medium. It was a huge learning curve but towards the end of the year, I was getting a swing of how things work on this creative platform. I created a plan to maintain activity on my Instagram account, blog, and Medium.

The first significant step I took was diving into various writing prompts, resulting in a substantial boost in my Partner Program earnings from a mere $2 in December to an impressive $16.72 in January.

What a confidence boost it was!

However, medical appointments started piling up and my time and energy were shifted away. I tried to keep up between doctor appointments and waiting rooms, but it wasn’t the same as writing cozily at home. The earnings took a slight dip, but $13.34 was enough to keep going.

Unfortunately, March hasn’t been as kind as my soul desired. Family commitments piled up, most requiring hospital visits, and as a result, my writing has suffered. I haven’t posted any new story, which makes my heart ache in more ways than I can explain.

Despite the frustration, I remain hopeful that with a little bit of devotion, I can reclaim my stride.

Now what?

Looking ahead, I should have more time on my hands. My father is recovering well from his medical procedure in the fall of 2023. My mother had all her medical concerns situated and should have all her follow-ups in the summertime. My father-in-law is back home from the hospital, recovering nicely from an ankle fracture. He still requires some supervision but at least he is home. Thankfully, my mother-in-law has remained stable through all the chaos. Now, if the kids continue to be patient, we can get through senior year in one piece. [Yes, our oldest is graduating high school!]

The first two weeks of March are a blur and finding a peaceful time to write was scarce. However, I did manage to work on some social media posts and now, have a decent list to fall back on.

As I look forward to reconnecting with fellow writers on Medium, I am hopeful the flow will pick up on the blog and Facebook page, as well. I remain optimistic that the arrival of spring will blossom my writing pursuits.
